本作は、「モーニン」「テイク・ファイヴ」「ウォーターメロン・マン」などジャズ史に残るヒット・ナンバーを、“トランペットの詩人”アート・ファーマーが鮮やかにカヴァーしたアルバムを日本初CD化。ポップでキャッチーな曲想と、持ち前の美しい音色が絶妙に融合した快適盤。ジミー・ヒース、シダー・ウォルトンら共演者も乗りに乗ったプレイを披露する1枚。1967 年にジャズが商業的に非常に苦戦しており、「ヒット」がほとんどなかったことを少し皮肉ったものです。実際、著名なハード・バップ・クインテット（テナーのジミー・ヒース、ピアニストのシダー・ウォルトン、ベーシストのウォルター・ブッカー、ドラマーのミッキー・ローカー）を率いるフリューゲルホルン奏者のアート・ファーマーは、翌年ヨーロッパに拠点を移し、そこで彼よりもずっと頻繁に仕事をすることになる。この LP に収録されている 10 曲は、特に「ソング・フォー・マイ・ファーザー」、「ザ・サイドワインダー」、「ウォーターメロン・マン」、「テイク・ファイブ」などの曲でかなり人気がありました。クインテットの簡潔な解釈（6 分を超える演奏はありません）は、過度に予測可能ではなくメロディックです。いつものように、ファーマーの叙情性だけでも、この過小評価されているアルバムを探す十分な理由になります。- 1.
